The collaboration will see the launch of three new products including a Cheddar & Ham Croissant

Cathedral City has announced a partnership with chilled on-the-go manufacturer Summit Foods to expand its chilled product offering.

The collaboration will see the launch of three new products (rsp: £3): two Cathedral City toasties in Cheddar & Ham and Cheddar & Red Leicester variants and a Cheddar & Ham Croissant.

The partnership represents a strategic move by Cathedral City to appeal to consumers seeking “convenient and delicious” snacking options whilst expanding its presence beyond the cheese aisle.

“We are excited to expand our chilled offerings with the introduction of these new on-the-go products,” said Abi Armson, Cathedral City senior brand manager. “Our partnership with Summit Foods is a testament to our commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality options that meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

The new range builds on the success of the brand’s other licensed products, including Heinz Cheesy Beanz and its ready meal range launched in collaboration with Oscar Mayer earlier this year.

It has also established success in the frozen category within Iceland, with 80 products launched since 2021, and sales equivalent to £70m to date.

The range will be available in 206 Sainsbury’s stores from 25 September within the snacking area of the chilled fixture.

“With consumers becoming increasingly time-poor, shoppers are looking for quick, convenient and fresh meal solutions to satisfy their everyday food needs,” said Armson. “Our new toasties and croissant tick all these boxes, whilst retaining the high quality and delicious taste you would expect from Cathedral City.

“Our exciting partnership with Summit Foods allows us to continue expanding Cathedral City’s presence beyond the cheese aisle, and we can’t wait for shoppers to try these fantastic new products.”
