Coca-Cola European Partners is taking Honest Organic into sparkling drinks for the first time, with a two-strong range for the brand’s Lemonade range.
Sparkling Lemon and Sparkling Orange & Lemon are made with organic fruit juices and sugar, providing 19kcals per 100ml. Containing no sweeteners or artificial flavourings, they come in a 330ml can. They would be “price-aligned to similar products in the market”, CCEP said.
They would “help retailers maximise on the growing adult soft drinks sector and demand for premium craft options” claimed CCEP. “With 47% of all adults in GB cutting back or limiting their alcohol consumption, the new lemonade will also provide an alternative to an alcoholic drink.”
On average, adult soft drinks commanded three times the price of regular soft drinks and were attracting new shoppers to the larger soft drinks category, said Simon Harrison, vice president of commercial development at CCEP GB.
Within the adult drinks sector, the three main motivations for purchase were “taste, naturalness, and a premium look and feel – and Honest Lemonade delivers on all three”, he added.
The new duo joins the Honest portfolio of organic soft drinks, which comprises still lemonade, chilled coffee and juice-based options for children. It no longer makes the herbal tea variants with which it made its UK debut in 2016.
Honest was launched nearly 20 years ago in the US, where its offer includes almost 30 iced tea SKUs.
