Sainsbury's has launched a traditional farmhouse butter in celebration of its 140th anniversary.
Supplied by Somerset-based Barber's Farmhouse Cheesemakers, which has supplied Sainsbury's with farmhouse Cheddar for more than 50 years, the butter is made using whey cream, a by-product of cheese production. The cream picked up subtle flavours from the cheese, giving the butter a unique taste said Sainsbury's.
The butter is available on cheese counters, packaged in a parchment wrapping featuring a heritage-style Sainsbury's motif, rsp £1.20 for a 250g pack.
