Central England Co-op

Central England Co-operative has ploughed more than £3m into six stores and a new funeral home as it forges ahead with investment plans.

Altogether £3.2m has been spent on the projects, which include the opening of three new stores - at Horsley Woodhouse and Inkersall in Derbyshire, and Measham in Leicestershire, as well as the launch of three refurbished branches in Chesterfield, Little Eaton, and Fradley.

The funding, which comes on the back of record capital investment by the society in 2016/2017 - in excess of £45m - has also been used to open a new funeral home in Stafford.

“Our team were so excited to finally allow our members and customers to see our new stores,” said Inkersall store manager Gary Bonsall.

Each store opening was supported with a special golden ticket promotion, giving hundreds of customers the opportunity to win prizes including a 50in TV, coffee machine, Co-operative gift vouchers and Irresistible Fairtrade chocolate bars.

Funeral director Ruth Johnson added: “Our first priority is to enhance memories and love for all of our families and we are very pleased to offer that at Stafford Funeral Home.

“We feel it reflects our commitment to providing excellent standards of care for our families during their time of bereavement.”
