Kaoba, a new sparkling soda made from the pulp of cacao fruit, is to launch in the UK.
Kaoba Sparkling Cacaofruit Juice has launched via DTC in Original and Garden Mint.
The “100% natural drink” (rsp: £30/12x250ml) was the “very first sparkling cacaojuice soda to be produced on a large scale in the UK”, claimed Kaoba.
An “astonishing” 10 million tonnes of unused cacao fruit were produced from cocao production annually, Kaoba said.
Kaoba would bring “sustainability and innovation to the health drink industry” by repurposing the waste fruit to create “a delicious, sparkling beverage” with a “naturally sweet, fruity flavour reminiscent of tropical pineapple, lychee and pear”, it added.
“The drinks market is saturated with overly complicated and refined-sugar-laden options,” said Mathew Halford, MD at Kaoba. “Kaoba offers a sustainable, simple and transparent product for today’s conscious consumers.”
The brand’s initial two-strong line-up would soon be expanded to include Ginger and Acerola Cherry, Halford revealed. All flavours would be available “for purchase online and in select retail outlets”, he promised.
Kaoba was “an honest, simple and refreshingly delicious option” that offered a “tastier, more sustainable alternative to every other drink on the shelves’’, Halford added.
