Filled wrap brand Chapati Man is expanding its business with a range of snacks developed exclusively for Waitrose.
Rolling out to Waitrose food-to-go fixtures next week, the Chapati Man’s Spicy Indian Snacks range includes a large chicken tikka samosa (100g), a bhaji selection snack pack with a mango chutney (110g) and an aloo tikki snack pack with a tomato dip (110g). The products will be priced at about £1.50.
“This is an exciting coup for us as the Waitrose food-to-go fixture is predominantly own-label, so this listing is a great achievement,” said Chris Rai, who co-founded the brand with his wife Andrea.
Chapati Man also sells a range of filled wraps in about 80 Morrisons in London and the South East. It secured a listing with the retailer earlier this year following a brand revamp that included adding the brand story to pack.
The business was started in 2007 to cater for visitors to festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival and Lovebox. Chapati Man continues to take its branded catering van to events, where Rai estimates the business has served more than 140,000 festival-goers.
