Waitrose is stocking its first soya-based dairy-free alternative to cheese.
Most of the multiple’s stores will sell Redwood Company’s White Cheddar-style Cheezly in their cheese fixture (rsp: £1.85 for 190g).
The cheese is cholesterol-free and lower in fat than standard dairy cheese.
And because it is produced without animal ingredients, Cheezly is suitable for vegetarians, vegans and people with lactose intolerance.
Redwood, which produces an extensive range of animal-free foods, also makes a range of other cheeses, including super-melting Cheddar and Mozzarella-style slices, as well as blocks in Edam, Gouda and Mozzarella flavours.
The company was recently awarded ethical company status by the Ethical Company Organisation (ECO).
