The beer and food movement has taken a step forward as Italian lager Peroni Nastro Azzurro hooks up with celebrity chef Giorgio Locatelli. Brand owner SABMiller is hoping the partnership will further strengthen the beer's positioning as a sophisticated alcoholic choice. As part of the deal, Locatelli has created 10 dishes to match Peroni, which will be available on the brand's website (www.PeroniItaly.com) and feature on Ocado from next month. There will also be an advertising campaign across TV and radio and an on-pack promotion offering consumers the chance to win a meal at the chef's London restaurant, Locanda Locatelli. The competition will run across the four, six and 12-packs and on the 660ml bottles from this week. In other recent beer and food link-ups, Inbev's Leffe appeared at this year's Taste Festival, Coors brewery is putting on matching events and Heineken is running a Café Heineken campaign.
