The Food Standards Agency has launched an investigation into the possible contamination of two bottles of its Volvic mineral water.
Danone Waters, the producer of Volvic said that a 44-year old woman in London has complained of a burning sensation after drinking from a bottle of the water. Tests have revealed traces of the chemical naphthalene.
Danone reported the incident to its local authority but not to the FSA originally. It said that it was an isolated incident and no other complaints had been received from the same batch and remaining samples have been tested.
The initial suggestion is that the contamination could have occurred after it left the factory.
