Chewits is moving into the bonbon market with the launch of Juicy Bites and Xtreme Sour Bites.
The brand has created a trio of SKUs – Juicy Bites Strawberry, Juicy Bites Blue Raspberry and Xtreme Sour Bites Apple & Lemon – each comprising a chewy textured bonbon with a juicy centre (rsp: £1/145g).
All three flavours are suitable for vegetarians and contain no artificial colours or flavours.
The bonbon category was worth over £7m with 5.7% sales growth year on year, “despite little innovation”, said Chewits [IRI MarketPlace 52 w/e 31 May 2020].
Chewits has also added two new SKUs in the hanging bags category – Xtreme Sour Apple Laces and Fruity Twists (rsp: £1/200g) – marking a new chewy format for the brand.
The new products have launched into c-stores and wholesale, with plans to expand into grocery next year.
It marks Chewits first innovation for many years, as it now felt “the time is right to broaden our appeal by expanding into new category segments and offering more products with our popular chewy texture and great range of fruity flavours,” said brand manager Sarah McDermott.
