Chingford Fruit has concluded a four-year project to become more environment friendly - and save up to £220,000 a year.
It has eradicated the waste it sends to landfill, with all plastic and cardboard waste recycled, pallets re-sold and waste fruit turned into electricity.
It has also spent £175,000 fitting its Kent HQ with LED lighting.
“This is a major step forward for us,” said central services manager Colin Ormerod.
