Alpro has added a low-fat chocolate custard to its range of dairy-free products.
Made from whole soya beans, the chocolate custard has added calcium, a 12-month shelf-life and tastes like conventional dairy custard, claims Alpro.
Commercial director John Allaway said: “With the growth in the variety of free-from products, consumers not only demand a wider range but they also insist that the products taste like their dairy equivalents. Taste is an important factor, particularly for those consumers who are trying soya products for the first time, and we strive to improve our products all the time.”
The newcomer, which will join dairy-free milk, yogurt and cream in Alpro’s soya line-up, has just been launched in Tesco and some health shops and will be rolled out to other multiples by the end of the year, with an rsp of 99p for a 525g carton.
