Chocomel’s hot chocolate has been a staple in European cafés for decades

Chocomel has launched a Hot Chocolate SKU into supermarkets for the first time.

Chocomel’s hot chocolate has been a staple in European cafés for decades, but now the brand is launching into UK supermarkets for consumers to enjoy at home.

It has launched exclusively into Sainsbury’s and will become available on 5 November in Tesco.

The FrieslandCampina-owned brand’s latest offering is designed to make it easier than ever for consumers to enjoy café-quality hot chocolate at home with a “perfect consistency every time”.

“Our consumer research revealed that the biggest frustration with traditional hot chocolate was the hassle of preparation, leading to an inconsistent taste and texture,” said Gabriella Sudall, marketing manager (drinks platform) at Chocomel. “We’ve listened to those concerns and developed a product that not only solves those pain points but makes the process easier and more convenient than ever.

“We’re keen to replicate the success we’ve seen across Europe, where Chocomel is synonymous with quality hot chocolate in cafés,” she added.

It is packaged in a 750ml Tetra Pak (rsp: £2.70) and is engineered for ease of use as consumers just pour, heat and enjoy.

The launch will be supported with in-store sampling and at-fixture point-of-sale materials to bolster sales.

“We’re especially excited about the launch of Chocomel Hot Chocolate as it represents a significant opportunity for retailers to tap into the growing demand for high-quality, convenient hot chocolate options, a category that has seen limited innovation in recent years,” said Sudall. “We hope to help retailers capture a fresh segment of the market and drive exciting growth in the hot chocolate category to really fire up sales ahead of the festive period – and beyond!”
