Camra will be seeking out the best bottled cider in 2006, to be announced alongside its Draught Cider and Perry Championships.
The real ale campaigner will be turning its attention to traditional cider and perry in October during National Cider and Perry Month, during which it will be announcing the launch of its new Bottled Cider & Perry Competition 2005/6.
It is the first time Camra has run a competition for bottled ciders, and it will be open to all producers.
Gillian Williams, Camra’s director of cider and perry campaigning, said smaller producers had a hard job competing with the huge national producers and Camra was there to help. “It is the different areas of production and the varieties of fruit which gives each drink a unique, living and wonderful taste.”
The month will also see Camra launch its new Good Cider Guide.
