Virgin Wines has agreed a strategic partnership with Ocado Retail.
Starting this week, Ocado customers have access to an exclusive selection of 50 wines from the Virgin Wines portfolio, “carefully curated” by the buying teams from both businesses.
Previously available only to Virgin Wines customers and sold as part of multi-bottle cases, it marks the first time these wines have been offered as individual bottles.
Virgin Wines CEO Jau Wright said: “We are thrilled to be working with Ocado to bring our expertise in sourcing and creating wines to its considerable audience.
“This collaboration allows us to introduce Ocado customers to a hand-picked selection of exclusive wines from our large and distinctive portfolio.
“Virgin Wines has long-standing relationships with a considerable network of independent winemakers across the world. Our team work closely with them to create a unique range that is constantly evolving to meet the varying needs of different consumers.
“I’m confident the wines selected for our range at Ocado will resonate with both seasoned wine enthusiasts and those looking to discover something new.”
Morning update
Footfall has risen for the first time in more than a year as mild temperatures tempted consumers to go shopping.
Total UK footfall increased 3.3% in September, compared with -0.4% in August, according to the the BRC-Sensormatic monthly monitor.
High street footfall rose by 0.9%, up from -0.3% in the prior month, while retail parks saw 7.3% more traffic, up from +2.6%, and shopping centres increased from -1.8% to +2.3%.
BRC chief executive Helen Dickinson said: “It was neither too hot nor too cold for customers, leaving retailers in the sweet spot for additional shopping trips. This compared positively to last year when the intense heatwave caused many people to stay home and delay purchases of autumnal clothes and products.”
