Scottish Spar wholesaler CJ Lang has appointed David McCorquodale as a non-executive director.
Scottish-born McCorquodale, formerly UK head of retail at KPMG, took up his position on the board of directors on 1 August.
He is only the second non-family non-executive member of the board in the company’s history, following chairman Jim Hepburn over two years ago.
The part-time role will be flexible, requiring McCorquodale to commit “as much time as required to carry out the role of a non-exec” said CJ Lang CEO Colin McLean.
The new recruit will be tasked with advising the wholesaler on implementing its recently agreed organic growth strategy, while working alongside the other members of the board to consider any other opportunities in both wholesale and retail should they arise.
“It is great news that David has agreed to join our board at this key point in our journey,” said Hepburn. “David’s vast experience and wide connections in retail will add significant additional skills to our company as we continue to grow and strengthen our position in the Scottish convenience market. We are delighted to welcome him to the company.”
