CJ Lang has appointed former Morrisons wholesale buying manager Robbie Moore as head of trading.
Moore started the new position last week. He is responsible for maximising volume, value and margins.
He also identifies sales opportunities, promotes maximum loyalty, and reviews category and supplier activation performance in stores to ensure they are optimised for the best customer offer.
This aims to deliver incremental growth for its independent retailers and company-owned stores, the Scottish Spar wholesaler said.
He will report to CEO Colin McLean and will replace current trading director Richard Collins who will leave the business on 1 October.
Moore has spent the past year at Morrisons as wholesale buying manager. He headed up core grocery for Morrisons wholesale and the Morrisons Daily franchise. Prior to that, he spent seven years at Costcutter, where he held the positions of head of commercial, category manager and buying assistant.
“We’re delighted to see Robbie joining our Spar Scotland exec team where he will actively provide advice and input to the business and our members,” said McLean.
“He will be a great addition encouraging and supporting the Spar brand and standards of operation in Spar retail stores.”
Moore added: “I am excited to take this role with CJ Lang. Operationally the trading team is in a very strong position and I look forward to building on its success.”
