Clarence Court has launched Burford Buffs - a light-coloured version of its Burford Brown eggs - for Waitrose.

Burford Brown hens typically lay eggs with dark brown shells but occasionally produce cream-coloured ones. To date, Clarence Court has sold these into the processing and foodservice sectors, but it has now created a retail brand for cream-coloured Burfords in partnership with Waitrose.

“This light-coloured or buff egg has all the characteristics of its dark brown sibling, but it simply has a lighter-coloured shell,” said Clarence Court MD Nick Rogers. The eggs were introduced into Waitrose stores this week, priced at £2.09 for a box of six.
