Upmarket bakery Elisabeth the Chef is introducing two classic French desserts to Waitrose to add value to the own-label dominated dessert category.
The Senoble-owned business is adding Flottante a soft meringue on a "floating island" of crème anglaise to the chilled fixture this week. It will line up alongside La Tarte Citron Meringuée (rsp: £1.49 per twin-pack).
"These classic branded French desserts will add real value to a category currently dominated by own-label products," said a spokesman. " We know the UK market is now ready for these flagship products."
