Cadbury owner Mondelez has announced the appointment of Clive Jones as president for Northern Europe, replacing Glenn Caton.
Jones will be responsible for the snack giant’s business in the UK, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark – across which it makes and sells brands including Cadbury Dairy Milk, Oreo, Maynards Bassetts, Ritz, Belvita, Freia and Marabou.
He joined Mondelez in 2017 as Asia Pacific Middle East and Africa (AMEA) president for gum, candy, beverages & meals. Over the past year, he drove both market share and growth across 15 different markets, said the company.
Jones brings to his new role more than 20 years of marketing, brand innovation and general management experience.
Prior to joining Mondelez, he spent 16 years at PepsiCo, latterly as its Moscow-based vice president general manager for foods & chief marketing officer for Russia.
He joined the US company in May 2001 as marketing manager following a four-year stint with Kraft Foods UK, where he held the title of senior brand manager.
At Mondelez, Jones replaces Caton, who has taken up the role of AMEA president for chocolate after two years in charge of the Northern Europe business – leading it to “continued strong performance” according to the supplier .
Jones said he was “excited and privileged to have the opportunity to lead one of Northern Europe’s largest, and most admired, food companies”.
He added: “This business has delivered strong, profitable growth in recent years, investing in our brands, colleagues and operations, while responding to changing consumer expectations and a dynamic policy environment.”
