Doug Clydesdale has been appointed chief executive officer of Carling UK, replacing Lars Fellman, who will retire at the beginning of next year.
Clydesdale will take up his new position in January 2006, reporting directly to Nils S Anderson, chief executive of
Carlsberg and chairman of the UK board of directors.
Clydesdale is currently managing director of brands and sales for Carlsberg UK, overseeing the on-trade and take-home sales divisions and marketing.
He joined Carlsberg in 1998 and has held a number of senior marketing and general management positions.
Fellman took over the chief executive role in August last year after the sudden departure of Colin Povey.
He said: “Doug Clydesdale has made an outstanding contribution to the development of our brands over the years and I have no doubt that he will continue to build on this track record going forward.”
