The Co-op is urging people to recycle their old mobile phones to raise money for Oxfam projects across the globe.
On the 3rd of January the Co-op launched an in-store drive to collect old mobile phones and empty inkjet and laser cartridges for Oxfam to recycle.
Each phone that Oxfam recycles makes around £5 for the charity, while each inkjet cartridge raises £1 and laser versions are worth about £2.50.
Brad Hill for the Co-op said: “It’s a win-win situation and we’ll be supporting the Oxfam recycling scheme throughout next year, but, as Santa will literally have delivered new mobile phones and printers by the sackful, we wanted to press home the recycling message early so that everyone can make a New Year’s resolution to help raise money for Oxfam’s invaluable work worldwide.”
