Five stores in Manchester have had #goodluckcarly incorpoated into their store sigange in a show of support for local wheelchair athlete Carly Tait, who is on a paid career break to train and take part in the games.
Tait, who has cerebral palsy, will take part in the championships in London between 14-23 July, a year after taking part in the Rio Paralympics. The Co-op is a supporter of the 2017 British Athletics Para team, as well as a national partner of the games.
Tait was inspired to become a wheelchair athlete by watching the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
“Successes on the track or in the field are in no small part down to the continued and unprecedented levels of support from the Great British public,” she said. “Training and exercise have certainly turned my life around and given me some amazing opportunities.
“I would like to thank everyone for the help and encouragement they have shown me, support I will endeavour to repay on and off the track - showing others the possibilities within disability sport.”
