A Co-op worker was jailed this week for 18 months after being convicted of making four hoax bomb calls to his own store.

Between June 1998 and August 1999, 36 year old David Jeans caused the store to be evacuated and brought the town of Hexham, Northumberland, to a standstill.

The Co-op said he had cost the store £3,355. Jeans was caught after police traced the phone box and planted a secret camera.
