Co-op has extended availability of its grocery store on Amazon to customers in England for the first time.
Amazon Prime members in Bournemouth are now able to select from thousands of groceries including Co-op own-brand products, Co-op Fairtrade selection, and national brands on Amazon.co.uk.
Products are picked and packed by Co-op staff at its Wimborne Road, Moordown store and the orders delivered by Amazon’s ‘Flex’ courier pool drivers.
Areas covered include Bournemouth as well as surrounding areas Ringwood, Broadstone and Ferndown.
Co-op last month made 10,000 SKUs available on Amazon to customers in Glasgow and surrounding areas such as Hamilton and Paisley.
The offering gives Prime members the ability to do “their full Co-op grocery shop” with same-day delivery and two-hour scheduled time slots.
“Our partnership with Co-op is another way for us to provide our Amazon Prime customers with more choice, value and convenience to shop for their everyday groceries,” said Olivier Girard, head of Amazon UK grocery marketplace. “The launch of Co-op on Amazon.co.uk means Prime members in Bournemouth will be able to use Co-op on Amazon as part of the benefits, at no extra cost, wherever it is available.
“Prime provides access to the best of Amazon, and we are looking forward to being able to expand the offering to more of the UK throughout the course of the year,” he said.
The convenience retailer’s ambition is for Co-op on Amazon to “become a nationwide service” it said. The Co-op is the third supermarket to make its groceries available on Amazon, after Morrisons and Booths.
“With convenience at the core of our approach we are committed to finding new ways to expand access to our products and services, and we are delighted to be able to share our products on Amazon.co.uk,” said Chris Conway, Co-op head of e-commerce. “Co-op on Amazon will offer shoppers a shopping experience, with ease, speed and, choice of great value products, conveniently.”
