The in-app offer has been introduced across 100 key lines

Co-op is launching member prices on Deliveroo.

It said the move would provide shoppers with additional savings while carrying out online orders.

The in-app offer has been introduced across 100 key lines and everyday essentials, with savings of up to 28%.

Co-op members add their membership number at the checkout in order to access the deals.

The convenience retailer said its online business has grown at pace, with 86% of the UK population now having access to Co-op groceries online. Around 1,300 of its stores act as local fulfilment hubs in the community for online orders placed via Deliveroo, it added.

“Growing and innovating our online channels is a fundamental part of our convenience approach,” said Co-op e-commerce director Chris Conway.

“As a co-operative, membership is what makes us different, and we work to create value for our member-owners, who are at the very heart of our business.

“We are committed to offering great value, deals and promotions for everyone to enjoy, along with a focus on providing savings to those who own our business, our members, with member price benefits across an extensive range and choice of everyday essentials online as well as in store.”

Suzy McClintock, VP of New Verticals at Deliveroo, said: “At Deliveroo, we’re always looking for new and innovative ways to offer our customers a brilliant on-demand grocery service at great value.

“We’re proud to partner with Co-op to make member price savings available on nearly 100 key grocery lines including milk, chicken breasts and penne pasta, delivered straight to their door. This is another step in our mission to offer the best on-demand grocery experience for our customers.”

The new deal with Deliveroo builds on the same move Co-op made with Uber Eats last year, which saw member pricing apply to 250 products listed on the home delivery app.

Co-op said it was a further boost to its membership growth ambitions. It now has more than 6.2 million members and is on track to achieve its ambition of substantially growing the number of members to 8 million by 2030.
