Co-op is expanding its line-up of Worthy Farm cheddar products with a new sandwich joining its food-to-go range.
The retailer has launched the Co-op Worthy Farm Reserve Cheddar & Pickle sandwich, made using cheese from the home of Glastonbury Festival.
The cheese was unveiled last month as a collaboration between Worthy Farm and neighbouring Wyke Farm, launching exclusively at Co-op. It is created using milk from Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis’ award-winning herd, which graze on the festival site all year round.
The cheese is aged under wood for six months, delivering a “mature, rounded flavour with a hint of sweetness, that melts to give a lasting creamy flavour” said Co-op food-to-go product developer Kate Addison.
In the sandwich, it sits between two slices of fibre-enriched bread, which the retailer switched to last month in a bid to help members and customers increase their daily fibre intake in “a convenient way”.
The sandwich launched into stores this week, priced at £2.10/154g, and is also available as part of the Co-op lunchtime meal deal (£3.50).
