The Co-operative Group has received planning permission for a huge 467,000 sq ft regional distribution centre in Andover.
The project, which the group said would create 900 jobs in the area, was approved with 22 votes and one abstention.
Work on the mega-shed, managed by property giant Goodman Group will begin in May.
"The granting of planning permission by Test Valley Borough Council for a new Regional Distribution Centre at Andover is a major milestone in the strategic development of our logistics network," said Co-operative retail logistics director Trevor Ashworth.
"The Andover site is ideally placed to serve our food stores in the south of England, and will enable us to continue to provide Co-operative customers with the high standards of service they expect."
