The Co-operative Group has appointed Simon Webb to the new post of chief information officer.
As a member of the executive team, he will coordinate the strategic direction of new technology across the group's family of businesses.
Webb comes from PricewaterhouseCoopers management consultancy, where he was a partner specialising in IT management and major business change projects in consumer and industrial products sectors. Before that he was international systems development manager at United International Pictures.
Webb will report to chief executive Sir Graham Melmoth, who said: "As the Co-operative Group moves ever closer together it is critical we have a clear view of the technology requirements. Simon's track record in large scale business change programmes and the introduction of new technology, including e-business, will be key to the evolution of the co-operative family.."
