Coca-Cola Enterprises has signed up a three-legged cartoon footballer called Leggsy to star in a UK-only 2002 World Cup TV ad campaign for Coke. The 60-second Supersub' ad will run from Friday (May 3) for eight weeks.
In the ad, Leggsy who has two left feet in a nod to the team's supposed weakness on that side comes on to the pitch in the 89th minute and manages to score the winning goal.
The brand's global campaign will kick off at the same time, demonstrating the company's Think global, act local' strategy. A global ad features images of the brand's previous World Cup ads backed by the track Atomic by Blondie.
