The soaring global price of green coffee is forcing one of the UK’s largest coffee producers to raise the price of its products.
Douwe Egberts said it was pushing for a 6% price increase on its instant and cafetière coffees to offset high raw material costs. Its 250g coffee brick is set to rise from £2.49 to £2.64 and its 100g instant coffee from £2.68 to £2.85.
The company is due to meet retailers within a fortnight to discuss the rises.
Douwe Egberts said the global price of green coffee had risen by 25% over the past two years.
