Coca-Cola whose Music4You promotion with The Sun and the News of the World broke on May 19 took the top honours at the Superbrands Tribute Event 2001, winning the strongest superbrand' award.
Former boxing champ Chris Eubank, presenting the award to director of communications Andrew Coker, said it was the most recognised trademark in the world with 90% of the global market.
Compèred by TV presenter Alice Beer at London's Vinopolis, 11 awards were presented to top brands.
Andrex took the award for strongest brand icon and Evian for the best packaging design. Several grocery-related brands were shortlisted for awards including Persil, Perrier, KitKat, Heinz, Flora and Tesco.
