Young’s Seafood has appointed Reed Boardall, one of the UK’s largest temperature-controlled food distribution businesses, to handle the collection, storage and delivery of its foodservice business.
Reed Boardall acts for all the UK’s best-known supermarkets, storing about £100m worth of products on behalf of its customers. Its single site in Boroughbridge, Yorkshire is the largest of its kind in Europe.
It won the new business after providing what Young’s said was “a very successful chilled operation for several years”.
Reed Bordall also helped at Young’s Pinneys of Scotland site which had a short-notice requirement for third-party storage during the summer.”We are impressed by their ability to respond and are confident that they will take good care of our foodservice customers and deliver the expected performance this area demands,” said Young’s Seafood logistics manager Chris Law.
Howard Gill, managing director for Reed Boardall’s transport division, added: “We are absolutely delighted to have secured this piece of business which further strengthens our belief in our single site model enabling us to deliver the service and the agility required in Young’s Seafood’s supply chain.”
