The health, beauty and baby category was last looked at in-depth in the 26 August issue of The Grocer. In the period since then the top five brands in our chart have changed completely, with only Aquafresh and Huggies making it into this week's top ten for the category.
Colgate has been the most prolific brand, having secured the top spot for the past three weeks, moving up from fifth position the previous two. Colgate offers this week include Colgate Plax 500ml with the buy-one-get-one-free mechanic in Morrisons and Sainsbury's, and Colgate 360 Degree toothbrush at two for £4 in Tesco.
Alberta Culver's VO5 range of products has been in the top five for the health, beauty and baby category for the past three weeks.
Morrisons and Sainsbury's have buy-one-get-one free offers on VO5 shampoo/conditioner (400ml) and the VO5 Styling range, with Asda promoting the same products but favouring the x for y mechanic.
Adidas for Men, a range of anti-perspirants and deodorants, was on featured space promotion in Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Tesco, all with x for y.
Radox Elements bubble bath and shower gel were on offer in Asda using the save mechanic rather than buy-one-get-one-free. As is often the case, the saving adds up to 50% off the original price. The Radox Heavenly Bath range was available in Morrisons, and Sainsbury's had Radox's handwash 300ml, both with buy-one-get-one-free.
While dropped by Asda, the buy-one-get-one-free mechanic is still used widely by the other top retailers, especially in this category.
Morrisons other promotions in this category include Olay foam bath and bodywash and Simple handwash and shower gel. Tesco has Aquafresh toothpaste and toothbrushes and Sainsbury's has Huggies baby wipes, all using the buy-one-get-one-free mechanic.
The only retailer to have no featured space promotional activity captured for the health, beauty and baby category was Somerfield.
