British consumers are confused over the fat content and health value of foods, according to new research.
Some 11% of 1,234 UK adults surveyed by the Chilean Hass Avocado Association thought avocados were unhealthy and 19% believed all red meat was very high in fat.
"A high proportion of people don't understand the difference between good (mono and polyunsaturated) fats and 'bad' (saturated) fats," said a spokesman.
The first Avocado Week is taking place between 19 and 25 October.
