Conviviality Retail has acquired the entire share capital of KMD Enterprises, which owns 15 convenience stores in the South East of England.
The purchase for an “undisclosed sum” will see the majority of the 15 stores converted to the Bargain Booze Select Convenience fascia and franchised out to independent retailers.
Conviviality Retail currently operates a 700-strong franchise estate.
It said the acquisition would improve Select Convenience brand awareness in the South East of England and further deliver on its strategy to add quality stores to the portfolio across the UK. It said the region was currently a key focus as there were a number of areas currently under-represented by its brands.
“The acquisition of KMD further strengthens our convenience store business, and again demonstrates our ambitious growth plans in this area. These new stores are located in the South East of England and this is an important geographic expansion for Conviviality Retail as our brands are currently under-represented in this region,” said Conviviality Retail MD David Robinson.
“We will continue to grow our store estate, partnering with both new and existing franchisees to help them grow their store portfolios with quality, well located retail outlets. We look forward to working with all of our new colleagues and helping them serve the communities in which they operate.”
KMD Enterprises was owned by brothers Ashis and Paresh Patel, who build their estate of convenience stores over 20 years under the Nisa brand. It set up sister company Xcel Retail Ltd in 2014 in order to drive further expansion.
