Staff at Somerfield's Wells store got a taste of Hollywood when Simon Pegg, creator of the zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead, asked to film his latest movie in the supermarket he worked in as a teenager.
The film, Hot Fuzz, in which Pegg stars as a London super-cop who gets reassigned to a sleepy West Country village, climaxes in a bloody shoot-out in the local Somerfield, which is managed by former 007 Timothy Dalton.
"Pegg approached us to film at the Wells store as he had worked there as a teenager," said a spokesman for the chain.
"We were quite wary about it all at first, but I think that the British public will see that it's all completely tongue in cheek."
The film shot straight to the top of the UK and Ireland box office chart in its opening weekend, grossing £5.9m.
