Cambridgeshire-based crisps company Corkers has invested £1m into new equipment to enable it to manufacture vegetable crisps - a move it claimed would make the business one of just two veg crisps producers on British soil.
The first vegetable crisp from the business, Mixed Vegetable with a sprinkle of salt - a blend of carrot, parsnip, beetroot and sweet potatoes - will be launched next week in single and sharing formats (rsp: £1.20/40g and £2.49/125g). Two further flavours would be added shortly, said company co-founder Ross Taylor. Rivalling Tyrrells, Corkers veg crisps would plug a gap for a “high quality, hand cooked” offering, Taylor added.
