Cadbury Schweppes’ president, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Andrew Cosslett, has been appointed by InterContinental Hotels Group as its new chief executive. He is to take up his position no later than March.
Cosslett has been in his current role at Cadbury since February 2003 and has held various other senior positions.
He joined the company in 1990 as marketing director and was subsequently managing director of Schweppes UK. He then headed the Australian operation for five years, returning to the UK in 2000 to become MD, Great Britain and Ireland, until he took up his current job in 2003. Before
joining Cadbury, Cosslett spent 11 years in brand marketing at Unilever.
He said: “InterContinental Hotels Group is a significant global business, with respected brands and outstanding prospects. I look forward to joining my new colleagues and creating with them an exciting future for this dynamic company.”
InterContinental is developing its international hotel brands and growing its managed and franchised operations.
It said that Cosslett had great global brand management and would bring a wealth of international experience.
A spokeswoman for Cadbury Schweppes said: “Andrew has made a great contribution to the business but this is a great opportunity for him. We are sorry to lose him.”
