Costa has opened a new £38m roastery that will triple its roasting capacity.
The new facility in Basildon, which is the biggest of its kind in Europe, will allow Costa to more than quadruple its roasting capacity from 11,000 tonnes to 45,000 tonnes per year.
The 85,690 sq ft state-of-the-art site, named Paradise Street, will increase productivity by 25% and features an on-site barista training academy.
“Costa is growing rapidly as a global business and our new roastery will provide the platform for sustained international expansion as we continue inspiring the world to love great coffee,” said Costa MD Dominic Paul.
“Turning on our new roasting capacity is a landmark for the business. It’s a statement of our ambition to grow and our passion for great coffee.”
