Costa has introduced a new menu which includes two free-from milk options.
It claims to be the UK’s first high street coffee shop chain to offer Lactofree milk, which contains dairy but is lactose-free, and has added a dairy-free almond drink and vanilla latte (rsps from £2.95). It brings its total number of milk options to seven.
It comes alongside three new sandwiches to be launched on 10 January - British Smoked Ham & Cheese (rsp: £2.40), British Roast Chicken & Bacon (rsp: £2.70) and Pole & Line Tuna with Sweetcorn (rsp: £2.30). Costa’s Free-Range Egg Mayonnaise sandwich, meanwhile, has been relaunched with a new recipe and lower rsp of £1.90, down from £2.50.
Another new product for 2019 is Costa’s Veggie Breakfast Pot (rsp: £2.95) made up of baked beans, free-range scrambled eggs, roasted mushrooms and cheddar cheese, and provides customers with one of their 5 a day.

The coffee chain has also brought new items to its Coffee Plus menu. All pastries are now priced at £1 with the purchase of any medio or massimo hot drink before 11am, while its two previous breakfast meal deals will continue, meaning customers can purchase a British Beechwood Smoked Bacon Roll or a Scrambled Egg & Mushroom muffin for £2 with any medio or massimo hot drink until 11am.
Desserts are being shaken up too, with the addition of Coffee, Walnut & Pecan cake (rsp: £2.55) and Hopping Bunny Gingerbread (rsp: £1.65), a lightly spiced seasonal biscuit for Easter.
“There’s a huge growing trend for vegan and free-from products, and the introduction of the almond drink and Lactofree milk will ensure our customers have as much choice as possible and that everybody is catered for,” said a spokesman for Costa. “We’ve also brought in some fantastic new breakfast and lunch options to ease the pain of heading back to work after the Christmas break and hopefully our delicious cakes and sweet treats can make January a little bit more enjoyable too.”
