Costcutter is rolling out its Shopper First programme across three more stores.
Stores located in the Oxmoor Estate in Huntington, Sheldon in Birmingham, and Fremington in North Devon have now completed major refits as part of Costcutter’s brand transformation initiative.
The Shopper First programme focuses on providing fresh and chilled food and food-to-go options. It also helps retailers tailor their stores around local shopper profiles to drive footfall and increase basket spend.
This follows the success of its five-store pilot that ran through the first half of the year.
“We’ve redesigned the store to bring people in from dawn until dusk for quick mealtime solutions. Our main focus has been on chilled meal for tonight options, which really appeal to our local community, and our investment in expanding food to go is proving particularly popular,” said Huntingdon Costcutter store owner Sagar Patel.
Sheldon Costcutter store owner Rekha Godhania added: “We’ve expanded the range of chilled and fresh produce and extended our beer, wine & spirits to create all-important meal solutions. We have also introduced a new food-to-go section complete with Tchibo coffee, sandwiches, Rollover hotdogs and a new in-store bakery. In the month since opening we’ve seen basket spend increase 100%, with word of mouth continuing to drive new footfall into store.”
