Dairy wholesaler Creamline Dairies has acquired depots from Mortons Dairies for an undisclosed six-figure sum.
Manchester-based distributor Creamline projects a joint £45m turnover in the next 12 months following the acquisition, with Mortons bringing a £21.5m turnover per its latest accounts up to 28 February 2023 on Companies House.
Creamline will add 15,000 direct customers and over 450 local businesses to its portfolio pending completion of the deal. It will lead to the integration of three depots, 56 members of staff, and four franchisees.
The company is set to strengthen its foothold across the M60 belt and Cheshire, as well as Wirral and Merseyside, spots previously held by Mortons.
This is the second strategic acquisition for the dairy wholesaler, which bought local business Dairy Crest for £1.15m in 2013.
“We’re extremely excited about this potential deal as it doubles down on our strategy for growth in the north west,” said Creamline MD Chris Swallow.
“Ultimately, it’s our mission to be the most consistently successful independent dairy company in Britain in terms of our service levels, product quality and profitability.
“Acquiring the business from Mortons – which aligns with our company values of community, quality and heritage – will strengthen our service to businesses and consumers alike, as well as our online offering.”
