Supplier Crown Chicken has tightened up its biosecurity after severe lapses in standards were revealed by Whistleblower this week, MD David Thacker said.
The manager of the farm shown has been "transferred" after the programme showed bins filled with maggot-infested carcases at its factory in Swansthorpe. On the day of filming 40C temperatures exacerbated conditions, Thacker added.
Crown Chicken supplies chicken to Budgens, farm shops and high-end retailers. Sainsbury's, which sold halal chicken from Crown in a few stores, through Tahira Foods, said the line had been delisted prior to filming.
