Findus is bringing back its Chicken Curry Crispy Pancakes in response to an online petition.
The company set up a Facebook group last November to enable consumers to "share nostalgic memories". But the group took on a life of its own as people began reminiscing about retro flavours in particular chicken curry, said business unit director Neil Sanderson.
"If we reached a target of 3,000 votes we would relaunch the flavour nationwide," he said. "That has been smashed, with votes flooding in daily and now at more than 4,500."
They hit multiples next month (rsp: £1.39), with a 'Voted back' logo on-pack.
Findus noticed "a surge in online and offline noise" for Crispy Pancakes last year after it was voted top retro brand in a GMTV poll.
"We then decided to launch on Facebook and Twitter, meaning we could track consumer feedback closely," added Sanderson.
