Consumers are about to see Pringles crisps in a totally new colour. From June, Procter & Gamble is using new technology to customise Pringles’ crisps by printing words and images in a variety of colours directly on the crisp.
The new variety, called Pringles Prints, will initially feature Fun Facts, Animal Facts and Jokes from June and Trivial Pursuit Junior trivia from August.
Words and images are printed on one side of the crisp in blue or red using food colourings which do not alter the taste.
Initially available only in the US, Pringles Prints will come in Original flavour in canisters and Snack Stacks sizes and will be supported by a multi-million dollar marketing campaign to include TV ads.
A UK spokeswoman said there were no immediate plans to introduce the new crisps to the UK.
