Dairy Crest has announced the closure of its Enfield factory, with a loss of 320 jobs.
The fresh products factory, run by joint venture Yoplait Dairy Crest, produces own label yogurts and soft cheeses.
It will close early in 2005 because the company is finding own label increasingly difficult.
Some of the production is to be transferred to the refurbished factory in Chard, Somerset, but the group will now focus on the manufacture of branded products, including Petit Filous and Frubes.
Dairy Crest chairman Simon Oliver said the closure would have a negligible impact on Dairy Crest Group profits.
