Alpro has launched a new soya milk for kids who are on a dairy-free diet.
Suitable for children aged one year and above, Alpro soya Junior 1+ can be used as a main milk source for children from the age of one, or as part of a weaning diet from six months of age. The dairy-free milk was aimed at those with a lactose intolerance or cows milk protein allergy, said commercial director John Allaway.
The recipe specifically met infant dietary needs, including an increased calorie content over standard Alpro soya milk, added iron and B1 for those on vegan and vegetarian diets, as well as calcium and vitamin D, he said. "Some 15% of UK infants show signs of dairy and lactose intolerance, and up until now there has been no milk alternative for kids," he added.
Launching in Morrisons at £1.35 for a one-litre carton, it will also be available in Tesco and Sainsbury's later this year.
