Dairygold Food Ingredients is breaking into retail with a line of speciality cheeses.
The Irish dairy co-operative will preview The Imokilly Cheese Company brand at the Nantwich International Cheese Show on 27-28 July. The 12-strong range includes Ballycashel, Imokilly Regato and Imokilly Quseo Tierno. The company hopes to boost speciality cheese sales by 30% within three years.
Dairygold was best known as an ingredients supplier, with its consumer foods offering less well established, said group marketing manager Svitlana Binns. "The brand aligns with our cheesemaking heritage," she added.
All the cheeses are manufactured in the village of Mogeely and one of them, Imokilly Regato, holds a EU Protected Designation of Origin marque.
Dairygold is Ireland's second-largest milk producer, processing about 850 million litres every year.
