P&H-owned c-store chain Central Convenience has taken on former McColl’s regional manager Dave Lenz as operations director.
The business plans to grow its portfolio from 60 stores to 300 over the next five years, with 60 new stores opening by the end of next year.
Lenz, who has more than 30 years of experience in the convenience sector, said: “I’ve virtually worked at every level in the business including store manager, so I know what it takes to deliver success. These are exciting and challenging times for the independent sector as consumers change their buying habits and continue to look for alternatives to the large supermarkets. Central is well-positioned to take advantage of this.”
Central commercial director Tony Start will work with Lenz for the second time since leaving his position as trading director at McColl’s in 2011. “Having the right people in place is one of the most important elements of our ambitious growth plans,” he said.
“Dave brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge, which will be of huge benefit to both Central’s managed estate and our franchisees.”
